Teremoana guns for place on Joshua vs Fury card after big win over DeAndre Savage

Teremoana Teremoana made short work of DeAndre Savage at The Star Gold Coast in Queensland, stopping the American inside two rounds to extend his unbeaten professional record to 12-0.

The Australian heavyweight has now won all 12 of his professional fights by knockout.

Teremoana backed Savage up from the opening bell, using his size and power to keep his opponent permanently on the back foot throughout the contest.

Standing at 6ft 6in and weighing 121kg, Teremoana controlled the contest, with Savage struggling to find an answer to the pressure coming his way.

The finish eventually came in the second round as Teremoana unleashed a flurry of heavy shots to the head that sent Savage crashing down onto the canvas.

The American was unable to beat the count, leaving the referee with no choice but to wave off the contest.

Following the stoppage, Teremoana took to the microphone to address the Gold Coast crowd and those watching around the world, outlining his ambitions for the future.

“This is my first main event… Eddie Hearn’s going to take me all the way to the top… I think what I’ve heard is I should be on the AJ/Fury undercard. That’s the old generation and we’re the new generation.”

Matchroom promoter Eddie Hearn was equally impressed with his fighter, although admitted he wants to see Teremoana tested against tougher opposition next time out.

“Teremoana’s too good. You saw the fear on Savage’s face. As soon as he landed, his eyes were popping out of his head. He’s a tremendous fighter, and as soon as he lands, the fight changes.”

The victory marks Teremoana's third win of 2026. Should he secure another outing later this year, a fourth victory on a major stage could be exactly what the Australian needs to attract worldwide attention.

With Teremoana already calling for a place on a potential Anthony Joshua vs Tyson Fury undercard, the 26-year-old's next step could prove considerably more significant than the opposition he faced on the Gold Coast.

In the co-main event, fellow Aussie Michael Zerafa picked up another win as he stopped Venezuelan boxer Alejandro Ortiz via TKO in the eighth round.

Zerafa had not fought since facing Nikita Tszyu in January, with the bout ending in a no contest after a cut forced the doctor to stop the fight.

Zerafa found success early, landing the cleaner shots, although Ortiz's awkward style continued to cause him problems.

Ortiz consistently found gaps in Zerafa's defence and looked to load up with shots. However, as the fight progressed, Zerafa began to take control, landing a flush uppercut in the fourth round that rocked Ortiz.

With each round ticking away, Zerafa was clearly dictating the action before Ortiz wilted to the floor after the Australian landed another clean combination.

Despite valiantly making it back to his feet, Ortiz was withdrawn from the bout after looking weak and slumping on the stool.

After the fight, Zerafa declared his performance not good enough despite having his hand raised and called for his countrymen to back him:

“It was terrible, I’m not going to sugar coat it, it was good to get the eight rounds. I know I let a lot of people down but we’re Aussies and we need to stick together.”

Parr proved far too strong for friend and sparring partner Jemma Peart, winning the eight-round junior bantamweight contest via unanimous decision with an across-the-board score of 80-72.

Knowing she was down on the judges' scorecards, Peart's coach encouraged her fighter to 'go for broke', but she couldn't land a blow big enough to turn the fight around.

Coincidentally, both women left the ring with identical 9-2 professional records, including three knockout victories apiece.

Australia's Jack Bowen secured an impressive seventh-round stoppage against China's Mielifeier Dalielibieke.

With both men going at it from the opening round, Bowen eventually unleashed a barrage of shots on Dalielibieke that was enough for the referee to step in and award the Australian the victory.

The 30-year-old Bowen, ranked inside the WBO's top 15 at super middleweight, improved his record to 14-1, with 11 victories coming by knockout.

Dalielibieke, who was stopped for the first time in his professional career, falls to 10-4 after suffering his third consecutive defeat.

In the opening fight of the card, Omar El-Abdallah added a sixth victory to his unbeaten professional record with a stoppage win over Jordan Towns.

El-Abdallah dropped Towns in the third round before continuing to pile on the pressure after his opponent returned to his feet.

Towns managed to get himself up off the canvas, but El-Abdallah kept the blows coming thick and fast with little fight back from his opponent. Towns was ultimately not allowed to come out for the fourth round.

Towns left the ring with a professional record of 8-5.

With Teremoana now sitting at 12-0 with 12 knockouts, attention will quickly turn towards his next challenge.

The Australian has made it clear that he wants to share the ring with bigger challenges, and continuing to deliver stoppage performances like this will only increase the calls for him to step up in competition.

Whether that comes on a potential Anthony Joshua vs Tyson Fury undercard remains to be seen. However, one thing is becoming increasingly clear: Teremoana Teremoana shouldn't be overlooked.
