UK MMA veteran Tim Wilde returns to the PFL, fighting Amin Ayoub on the 23rd of May in Brussels

UK MMA veteran Tim Wilde faces Amin Ayoub in a PFL return bout that could define the final chapter of his career, with a new deal on the line.

Fighting under a one-fight contract with the PFL, Tim Wilde (18-7-1) aims to extend his deal with the promotion by putting on a performance fans won’t forget. Although known as “The Experiment”, he has been tested in the sport through hard fights and is now aiming to put on big performances at the end of his career. He said: “It’s about performances for me now — I want to go in and showcase my skills.”

It will be a trip down memory lane for Wilde in his fight against Amin Ayoub (24-7-1), an athlete he fought and beat back in 2018. With almost a decade gone by, “The Experiment” knows Ayoub will present a different challenge compared to all those years ago. Regardless, he’s ready to go, saying, “I’m such a completely different fighter and, after studying him, he is too. I’m just seeing this as a new opponent.”

A true veteran of the UK MMA scene, Wilde has built an extensive career, fighting through the ranks of Cage Warriors, BAMMA and Bellator, which has now merged with the PFL. After a brief return to Cage Warriors last year, he is now set to fight under the PFL banner again. He said: “I had a lot of very good, hard fights in Bellator and a lot of success with them. I’m excited to get on the PFL and showcase my skills with them again.”

With a win against Ayoub, he hopes to secure a three-to-five fight contract with the PFL, ensuring that at this stage of his career he can see it out with the organisation. He said: “Whilst I still enjoy it, whilst I still have the desire and fire inside me, I want to fight.”

In the twilight of his career, Wilde wants to put together a string of performances he’s proud of before walking away on his own terms. He said: “I want to stop it on my terms, not let the sport control me and make me stop.”

A statement performance in Brussels could be exactly what Wilde needs to secure his future with the PFL and continue writing the final chapter of a long and respected career on his own terms.
