Noche UFC Preview: Jean Silva vs Jose Delgado Headlines in Arizona

The fourth annual Noche UFC event takes place this Saturday at the Desert Diamond Arena in Glendale, Arizona. The event celebrates Mexican culture and history, with this year’s instalment being headlined by a featherweight clash between Jean Silva and Jose Delgado.

The rest of the card features several high-profile bouts, including Brandon Moreno vs Joseph Morales, Tommy McMillen vs Marwan Rahiki, Manon Fiorot vs Alexa Grasso and Waldo Cortes-Acosta vs Curtis Blaydes.

The headline bout was originally slated to be Jean Silva vs Yair Rodriguez, but an injury to Rodriguez forced him to withdraw, with Delgado stepping in on less than a month’s notice. Nevertheless, the task for Silva remains the same: bring his trademark combination of violence and pressure and secure a title shot.

Coming off a unanimous decision victory over Arnold Allen in January, Silva’s name has been mentioned more than once in title conversations. A victory over Delgado could be all that stands between him and facing the winner of the upcoming title fight between Alexander Volkanovski and Movsar Evloev.

On the flip side, Delgado has the chance to leapfrog the entire top 15 and cement himself as a true championship prospect. Currently unranked, a victory over number six Jean Silva would propel Delgado into the upper echelons of the 145-pound division.

Coming off a unanimous decision victory over Austin Bashi at UFC Oklahoma in July, Delgado can extend his 2026 record to 3-0 with a win over Silva and cause a major shake-up in the featherweight standings.

Stylistically, this promises to be an entertaining fight, with both men favouring pressure-heavy approaches and possessing serious knockout power. The stats suggest the judges may not be needed, with both men boasting finishing rates north of 80% and each having gone the distance just four times in their careers.

Mexico’s own Brandon Moreno makes his Noche UFC debut in the co-main event against surging contender Joseph Morales.

Former champion Moreno is coming off a tricky run, as he’s 2-4 in his last six bouts and currently riding a two-fight losing streak. At 32 years old, Moreno is far from old for a fighter, but his recent performances have left some wondering if his best days are behind him. He will undoubtedly receive a huge reception from the Noche UFC fans as he looks to get back on track with a victory against a fighter on the rise.

Morales is riding a five-fight winning streak heading into the fight, with his last three victories all coming by submission. He’s currently 2-0 in his second stint with the UFC and, with three consecutive submission victories, his confidence will be high heading into the matchup.

Moreno represents the biggest challenge of his career to date, with a victory likely securing him a spot in the flyweight rankings for the first time.

Morales’s most dangerous weapon is his submission threat, with eight of his 14 professional victories coming via submission. Moreno, on the other hand, has never been submitted and possesses strong wrestling to nullify the takedown threat. If Morales can’t get the fight to the mat, he may face a tough time dealing with Moreno’s slick boxing and well-rounded striking game.

In his last fight, Tommy ‘Gun’ McMillen proved that he’s the real deal. Beyond the association with Sean O’Malley and his trash-talking style, there is a serious featherweight prospect with relentless pressure and never-ending cardio.

Last time out, McMillen broke the strike record for a three-round fight, landing 252 significant strikes against Alberto Montes in July. The Arizona native gets the chance to fight in front of a home crowd on Saturday as he faces undefeated Marwan Rahiki.

Rahiki is another dangerous prospect at 145 pounds, coming off two finishes in the UFC since graduating from Dana White’s Contender Series. At just 24 and with a 100% finish rate, Rahiki has proven he has elite striking and huge power.

One of these undefeated prospects will suffer the first loss of his career. The matchup will be a clash between McMillen’s unrelenting pressure and Rahiki’s clean striking. Rahiki is extremely dangerous early, but the longer the fight goes, the more it favours McMillen’s elite cardio.

Fiorot and Grasso will face off in a clash at the top of the women’s flyweight division, which could have serious title implications.

Fiorot is coming off a first-round finish of Jasmine Jasudavicius in October last year and already has victories over three other fighters in the top 10. Grasso is making her third Noche UFC appearance and is coming off a sensational finish of Maycee Barber in March.

Valentina Shevchenko vacating the women’s flyweight belt makes the implications of this fight even bigger. A win for either fighter could see them go right to the top of the list to face the winner of Natalia Silva and Wang Cong.
