UFC Paris: Salahdine Parnasse Looks to Make His Mark Against Dan Hooker on UFC Debut

On September 5, the Accor Arena in Paris hosts UFC Paris, headlined by veteran lightweight Dan 'The Hangman' Hooker and former KSW two-weight champion Salahdine Parnasse.

Parnasse enters the UFC as one of the most accomplished fighters to make the move from outside the organisation, having won titles at featherweight and lightweight during his time with KSW.

The Frenchman has built a reputation for his technical striking, speed and well-rounded skillset, arriving in the UFC following a first-round stoppage victory over Kenneth Cross at the MVP x Netflix MMA event in May.

Standing across the Octagon from Parnasse will be veteran lightweight Dan 'The Hangman' Hooker. The hardened New Zealander has shared the cage with some of the sport's biggest names, including Dustin Poirier, Islam Makhachev, Michael Chandler and Arman Tsarukyan. While he has fallen short against some of the division's elite, Hooker has consistently turned his fights into must-watch wars of attrition, making him a serious test for Parnasse's UFC debut.

Hooker's last UFC outing ended in defeat to Parnasse's fellow Frenchman Benoit Saint Denis at UFC 325.

Saint Denis overwhelmed his opponent with relentless ground and pound in the second round, forcing referee Herb Dean to stop the contest with just 15 seconds remaining.

Despite that defeat, Hooker remains a dangerous contender at 155lbs, with his height, reach and experience giving him clear advantages over the newcomer.

Parnasse will have to deal with Hooker's ability to fight at range while also preparing for the kind of physical battles that have defined much of the New Zealander's UFC career.

For Parnasse, this opportunity is huge. A victory over a fighter with Hooker's experience would immediately announce his arrival in the UFC and put him in position to face higher-ranked opponents.

Hooker, meanwhile, will be looking to halt the hype surrounding Parnasse and return to winning ways against one of the UFC's most highly anticipated newcomers in his own back garden.

Also on the card, Michael 'Venom' Page returns to action against Nursulton Ruziboev at middleweight.

Page enters the bout with a 25-3 record, following a decision victory over Sam Patterson in the welterweight division at UFC London.

MVP has won his last three fights while moving between weight classes, and a victory over Ruziboev could put him in position to face a higher-ranked opponent.

Ruziboev brings a 37-9-2 record and a wealth of experience into the contest.

He was last seen in action in June, defeating Andrey Pulyaev by first-round neck crank submission in Baku.

Kurtis Campbell will look to return to winning ways when he faces the heavy-handed Trevor Peek at featherweight.

Last time out, Campbell made his UFC debut, with the Scouse 'Pink Panther' suffering the first defeat of his professional MMA career after being stopped by Danny Silva in the second round at UFC London earlier this year.

With that defeat the only blemish on his 8-1 record, a victory over Peek would quickly erase memories of his London setback.

Peek himself returns following a two-year layoff after suffering a fractured leg.

Holding a 9-3 record, Peek has lost each of his last three fights.

A victory over one of Britain's rising prospects could signal a fresh start for the American after his lengthy spell on the sidelines.

Elsewhere, undefeated heavyweight Mario Pinto takes on Ryan Spann in an intriguing matchup between two fighters carrying momentum into Paris.

The Portuguese fighter brings a perfect 12-0 record into the contest, while the experienced Spann enters with a record of 24-11.

With both men looking to continue their winning runs, only one will leave the Accor Arena with their momentum intact.

The card also features plenty of European talent, with France's Morgan Charrière looking to return to winning ways against the dangerous Felipe Lima at featherweight.

Modestas Bukauskas also returns to action at light heavyweight when he faces Oumar Sy.

Despite originally being scheduled to fight Rodolfo Bellato back in May, Bukauskas instead took on Christian Edwards and secured a decision victory after Bellato withdrew from the contest on short notice.

Bukauskas will now look to build on that result against Sy as he works his way back towards the upper end of the division.

Speaking to Combat Evolved ahead of his originally scheduled bout with Bellato, Bukauskas discussed his mindset following his defeat to Nikita Krylov and his desire to rediscover the form that saw him put together a four-fight winning streak.

"This time I'm completely fresh, and this is going to be Modestas at his best. In flow state, ready to take it to this guy."

'The Baltic Gladiator' now gets another opportunity to prove exactly that against Sy, with a victory potentially putting him back on track towards the top end of the rankings and a run at the division's elite.

Nathaniel Wood also returns to the Octagon as he takes on Mairon Santos in a featherweight clash.

Despite winning his last four UFC fights and remaining unbeaten since October 2023, 'The Last Kingsman' faces another stern test against the unranked Santos in Paris.

Santos is no pushover, however, having stopped Muhammad Naimov in his last outing to improve to 4-0 in the UFC since joining the promotion in 2024.

Further down the card, France's Nora Cornolle takes on Poland's Klaudia Syguła in the women's bantamweight division.

Two European UFC debutants will also meet at flyweight when Spain's Fabià Sintes faces France's Michael Aljarouj. Which newcomer will handle the pressure of the UFC stage and leave Paris with a victory?

The spotlight will ultimately fall on Parnasse. After building his reputation as one of Europe's most successful and exciting fighters outside the UFC, the Frenchman now has the chance to prove himself on the world stage against one of the lightweight division's most experienced veterans.

With Hooker looking to halt the arrival of the highly touted newcomer and Parnasse aiming to make an immediate statement in front of his home crowd, UFC Paris has all the ingredients for another memorable night in the French capital.
