Liverpool amateur standout Odel Kamara has signed a promotional deal with Matchroom Boxing, with Eddie Hearn describing the 22-year-old as a 'superstar in the making.'
Matchroom Boxing has strengthened its talent pool with the addition of Liverpool's Odel Kamara after the super-welterweight prospect signed a promotional deal with Eddie Hearn's promotional company.
The 22-year-old is in good hands, with Kamara set to be trained by the highly regarded Tony Sims in Essex.
Details regarding his professional debut are expected to be announced in the coming weeks.
As an amateur boxer, Kamara represented both England and Great Britain while fighting out of Salisbury ABC.
During this time, Kamara won seven national titles, including the coveted Senior Elite Championship.
Kamara enjoyed a breakthrough 2024, winning gold at the Dacal Memorial World Cup in Móstoles, Spain, in September before claiming the World Boxing Cup Finals title in Sheffield in November.
He also secured a silver medal at the World Boxing Cup in Foz do Iguaçu, Brazil, in April 2025. Kamara remained unbeaten throughout the tournament but was withdrawn from the final against India's Hitesh Gulia due to injury.
In September 2025, Kamara claimed a bronze medal at the World Boxing Championships, which took place in his home city of Liverpool. Representing England, Kamara lost in the semi-final to eventual 70kg champion Torekhan Sabyrkhan of Kazakhstan.
Throughout the tournament, the Scouser put together a series of impressive performances, with none more memorable than his victory over Canada's Kuwardeep Manu. Kamara floored Manu just three seconds into the opening round of their contest.
Matchroom chairman Eddie Hearn believes Kamara has the qualities to become one of the biggest names in British boxing, describing the 22-year-old as a 'superstar in the making'.
"Kamara is one of the future faces of British boxing," Hearn said. "This kid has got it all: he has got the looks, the personality, the power and, above all, he can really fight.
"I think Kamara will be in the conversation over time as one of the most exciting stars we've ever produced in this country."
Kamara is already promising an entertaining start to his professional career, with the young prospect intent on giving people a reason to tune in.
"Expect fireworks because I want to give the fans value for money every time I'm in the ring.
"I want to become a superstar in the sport, and I know I'm in the right place and on the right platform with DAZN to do just that."
With his professional debut set to be announced soon, the former amateur standout now begins the next chapter of his career with some of boxing's brightest lights above him.
With Sims in his corner, Kamara will now look to make a successful start to his professional career and begin turning his amateur success into achievements in the paid ranks.
