Omiel Brown Targets UFC Contract or Dana White’s Contender Series After Cage Warriors Title Unification
Cage Warriors lightweight champion Omiel Brown has his sights set on a UFC contract or a shot on Dana White’s Contender Series after a statement TKO victory over Samuel Silva at Cage Warriors 202.
Omiel Brown is targeting a shot in the UFC following his third-round TKO victory over Samuel Silva to become the undisputed lightweight champion at Cage Warriors 202.
Speaking to Combat Evolved after a training session, Brown (13-3) knew he had to stand out with an impressive finish in his title clash.
He said: “I knew that I had to make a statement, and that was in the back of my mind leading up to the fight, and people love finishes.
“I needed to make that statement and, because it was unifying the belt, it was the best place to make that statement.”
The Jamaican-born fighter extended his win streak to seven and claimed the seventh knockout of his professional career, showcasing more of his striking game rather than his wrestling.
Brown feels that spectators and viewers focus on his wrestling based on his performances in 2025, but believes that is just one aspect of his skillset.
The 31-year-old said: “I was just solidifying a part of my game that a lot of people didn’t really get to see inside the cage.
“Fans love knockouts. I’ve got these hands and I had to show them.”
The undisputed Cage Warriors lightweight champion has only gone the distance twice in his five-year stint with the promotion, proving how dangerous he is in the MMA scene.
Before his bout with Silva in Manchester, Brown explained that he had to teach the Brazilian a lesson.
He said: “He was convinced he was going to knock me out.
“I looked at it two ways. He didn’t respect me, or there was a level of fear. It’s like he was disregarding me as a champ, and I didn’t like that, so that motivated me even more.”
When asked if he would like to compete in the UFC, Brown said he does not believe he is in his prime yet and still wants to learn and develop before competing on the world stage.
He said: “One hundred percent. I know that I’m improving, I know it’s inevitable. It’s just stick to the goals, and stick to the game plan.”
Brown added: “I don’t think I’m in my prime right now. I’ve got a lot to learn and a lot to come.
“I know that I’m in a good position. I unified the belt in the perfect way possible. The guy that I unified it against, he just came from the Contender Series as well. That kind of goes to show the levels.”
While talks remain quiet with the UFC, Brown is happy to defend his championship, knowing it will increase his chances of fighting in the biggest MMA promotion, while continuing to improve in every aspect.
He said: “I don’t really care who I have to defend it against, I just know that everybody poses a different challenge for me, and I like solving problems.”
Brown will continue to defend his title until the opportunity arises to compete on the global stage.
